MY STORY ll: Exclusive Dinner and Auction for Sala Baï
24 February 2017, Singapore
Join our celebration of victories against poverty and human trafficking
We would love for you to join our February 24 fundraising dinner, dance and auction event to benefit the Sala Baï Hotel School. It will be another truly inspirational evening that combines uplifting stories of Sala Baï graduates, the Cambodian cuisine of Joannès Rivière's top rated restaurant Cuisine Wat Damnak, soulful grooves courtesy of DJ Alexis Rawkin, and an extraordinary venue overlooking the South China Sea.
Last year's event raised over $60,000, with donations helping towards the initial stages of the new school building. With the planned expansion of the student intake from 100 to 150 per year, Sala Baï desperately needs new student housing.
All proceeds from this event will be donated to building the new home for future generations of young Cambodians attending the Sala Baï Hotel School in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Since 2002, Sala Baï has successfully fought poverty and human trafficking by offering a free vocational education and a guarantee of employment in Cambodia's hospitality industry. With a focus on young women from underprivileged families, students complete 11 months of training in restaurant service, cooking, front office, housekeeping, and newly opened beauty therapy, including internships at 20 partner hotels. In 14 years, 1300 young Cambodians trained, 1300 employed, and more than 8000* lives changed forever.
*Almost all of Sala Baï students share their salaries with immediate and extended family members. Our program has estimated more than 8000 individuals have benefited from the vocational education and guarantee of employment offered by the Sala Bai Hotel School.
